Empowering Young Women Through EmpowHer

As individuals, social justice is something we care very deeply about, but it wasn’t until recently that we started taking steps to implement the change we wanted to see as a company.

Trying to figure out how to be part of the solution of such a heavy and complicated issue can feel overwhelming. Will what we do matter? Will it actually create change or make a difference? We sat with those questions and kept coming back to our desire to support girls and women. That’s when we found LA-based nonprofit, EmpowHer. Their mission is to empower young women in marginalized communities by helping them gain access to important skills through education and mentorship that will prepare them for college and careers.

They’re working on reducing high school drop-out rates for teen girls who are especially susceptible to educational failure because of pregnancy, truancy, and juvenile delinquency through programs that give each girl the confidence they need to face each challenge. EmpowHer’s programs teach an annual average of 200 teens financial literacy, career development, college prep, leadership skills, and violence prevention. 

It’s no secret we love supporting women here at Prism; in business, in life, in any damn thing they want to do. So getting to partner with an organization whose entire goal is to lift up, encourage, and empower young women who deserve to have the bright future we all dream about has been one of our biggest honors.
